FALL DINNER MEETING
ASEM’s fall dinner meeting is scheduled for October 20, 2016 at Coral Gables. Please plan to attend and bring a fellow NERE as a guest. Representatives from the Hantz Group and SERA will discuss what benefits they offer to ASEM members as part of our partnership. We will also discuss how Hantz & SERA can assist ASEM with holding meetings in different areas of the State and reaching out to prospective members. Watch for more information to be sent out as the October date gets closer.
POSITION STATEMENT – COORDINATED COMPENSATION PANEL
ASEM’s position statement must be submitted to the Office of State Employer by September 2, 2016 for fiscal year 2018. This position statement is given to the Coordinated Compensation Panel for their consideration to make a recommendation to Civil Service.
Some items we are requesting include:
- Raises and lump sums
- Increase Annual Leave accumulation and annual leave cap
- Develop a method with the Office of the State Employer where information about ASEM Membership can be shared with all NERES
- Pay for performance is still available to Group 4 employees if the department has the funding. ASEM would like to have each department create a policy that states Group 4 employees eligible for pay for performance must meet and outline with their manager the expectations to earn Pay for Performance. Having the goals in writing prior to the Fiscal Year would make sure Pay for Performance program is handled in an equitable manner.

INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT (IOE)
Insurance Open Enrollment (IOE) will be held this year starting Monday, August 1st, and ending Wednesday, August 31st, at 11:59 p.m. This is your annual opportunity to review plan summaries and current benefits, make changes to your coverage, and add or remove individuals from your insurance. New enrollments, rates, and changes will take effect on Sunday, October 9, 2016. More information is attached with this email.
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The terms of three Board members will expire at the end of this year. ASEM is seeking members who are willing to serve. An election will be held at the Annual Meeting in October. If you are interested, please submit your intent and a short bio to Suzy by September 20.
This is a 3-year term with approximately 6 meetings per year.
